This blog was started by Jim Coyle, a member of the Triumph of the Cross Parish building committee, as a way to share information about our parish’s history and tell you about our progress in planning and building our new parish home.

Triumph of the Cross Parish is a new parish in Steubenville, Ohio. The parish was officially founded on the Feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross on September 14, 2005, with plans to build a new church, which would also be the new cathedral for the Diocese of Steubenville. Because of insufficient fundraising during the first capital campaign, contruction plans were put on hold in late 2007.

The parishioners of Triumph of the Cross Parish are the parishioners of six former parishes in the city of Steubenville that were closed in June, 2008. Since a new church has not been built, we are currently worshiping and meeting at two sites, Holy Name Cathedral and the former Holy Rosary Church.

Our founding Pastor was Fr. Tim McGuire, and our present Pastor is Fr. Thomas Nau.

You may e-mail Fr. Nau at frnau@comcast.net
